Vejer de la Frontera - Teen Program

LA JANDA OF VEJER DE LA FRONTERA, SPAIN SUMMER 2010 TEEN PROGRAM

In Southern Spain, with Cádiz the closest major city, Vejer is a small village of 14,000 residents, and is the perfect setting for students who want a small, intimate atmosphere in which to learn and practice their Spanish. Enclosed by walls built by Arabs in the 11th century, this old medieval town is a maze of narrow streets and squares. The beach is quite near, and there are natural reserves, parks, and mountains to explore as well. Students fly into Jeréz de la Frontera, and there are connecting flights through Madrid or Málaga.

THE SCHOOL & CAMPUS The school is located in a historical mansion dating back to 1842 and is halfway between the Segur gateway and the Villa Arch, two of the most important entrances to the old city. It is also next to an 11th century watchtower and a Spanish-Arab wall from the same date. The school has comfortable classrooms, a library and video room, a kitchen for cooking lessons, two patios, a terrace and garden. It is a modern language school with a personal touch.

THE COURSE The school offers an intensive Spanish course for all levels of Spanish in the mornings followed by a varied program of activities in the afternoon which include sports, parties, and visits to places of local interest and the beach and a full day excursion on Saturdays. Class size is 3-10 students per class, with classes held from 9 to 1 daily.

ACCOMMODATION Family Stay: Spanish families are the best way for you to practice your Spanish as well as have a full cultural experience. Our families are specially chosen because they have experience with teenagers and like receiving them into their families. When possible, the school tries to place a teen with a family with similarly aged Spanish teens. Students are housed in double rooms with a roommate assigned. Every effort is made to ensure that students are with a roommate of a different nationality. Full board is included in the family stay. Your family will be within walking distance of the school. Airport pickup and return from the Jerez airport is included in your accommodation cost. Airport pickups in Seville and Malaga can be arranged at additional cost.

ACTIVITIES Activities include beach excursions, games, cultural activities, sports and fiestas. Tours and excursions are taken to nature reserves, Cádiz, Tarifa and Bolonia, Sevilla or Córdoba.
