ECELA - Course Information

Courses

The Spanish language school in Santiago focuses on grammar, reading, writing, and conversational Spanish. The program is divided into 7+ levels of study, with never more than 6 people in a group. The first four levels concentrate on grammar, vocabulary, practical situations, and conversation, while the upper levels concentrate mainly on conversation, advanced reading and advanced writing topics.

The school also offers a free tutorial assistant everyday from 9:00am - 6:00pm to help answer any questions that you may have.

The types of Spanish language programs offered are:

1. Group lessons (20 hours per week) - Students are grouped according to level with never more than 6 per class, allowing you to receive substantial individual attention and feedback. Students progress through the levels and every three weeks exams are given to reassign the groups. Group classes are held from 9am to 1pm.

2. Group Plus Private - Students receive 20 hours of group course plus 10 hours private lessons per week.

3. Private lessons (20 hours per week, with the option to add more hours) - Students can choose to take private lessons with a professor for more individualized attention. Private classes are also an excellent idea for professionals who seek a specialized Spanish vocabulary for specific situations. These courses are held in the afternoons from 2pm to 6pm.

4. Specialized courses - The school can offer customized courses for those wishing to have additonal attention or who would like a course that focuses on special interests such as medicine, law, business, or social services.

5. Spanish-Medical Course - Developed for medical professionals, the progam combines the regular group class program with medical-specific Spanish and cultural training. Morning group classes have 6 students. In the afternoons students are engaged in a wide variety of medical-oriented activities. The main portion is clinical shadowing in either a hospital or health clinic.

6. Argentina-Chile Combination - Combine your study in two of South America's most exciting countries by also attending ECELA's sister school in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Seamless continuation of classes with special rates and between country airfare included.
