About Cuernavaca

The “City of Eternal Spring” offers a showcase full of art, history, culture and tradition in one of the most perfect climates in all of Mexico. Its enviable climate at 5,000’ (same elevation as Denver) offers a radiant sun almost 365 days a year.  In addition, Cuernavaca, the capital of the state of Morelos, is a beautiful, culturally vibrant city, that has been home to artists and international celebrities.  Residents have included Diego Rivera, Carlos Fuentes, Helen Hayes, Barbara Hutton, Rufino Tamayo, just to name a few.

It is located one hour and thirty minutes from Mexico City’s International Airport.  The ancient name of Cuernavaca is Cuahnáhuac in Nahuatl, the language of the Aztecs.  It was founded almost seven centuries ago.  It has long been a place to find perfect weather and a relaxed lifestyle.  Its culture is quite different than the beach mentality, as it is located in the central mountains of Mexico.  It is considered a sunny place for creative or intellectual inquiry, where you can find cultural stimulation and spirited conversations.

Cuernavaca is a modern city which hosts universities, luxury hotels, ex sugar cane haciendas, a colonial center with a palace built by the conqueror Cortés, spas, world famous gardens, and archaeological ruins within the city.  It is a perfect jumping off point to explore the charms of central Mexico.

TRAVEL – Fly into the international airport of Mexico City.  There are direct airport buses to Cuernavaca, and a private airport pickup can be arranged by the school.
